Caoidh na Gaoitheig/A Resounding Voice (Alan Bruford Lecture)

Tradition accrues and is transformed through relational and referential encounters, both anticipated and unanticipated, between uncertain and precarious human and more-than- human lives. Amid displacement, migration, and the loss of languages and species, Dr. Tiber Falzett (Head of Irish Folklore in the School of Irish, Celtic Studies and Folklore, University College Dublin) asks what these ways of knowing carry, and what is lost when the voices that carried them fall silent.

Presented in memory of Scottish scholar Alan Bruford in partnership with the University of Edinburgh’s Department of Celtic and Scottish Studies.
