Leviathan - Boom-Bust-Boom!
Go Local (Shetland) / Interpreting Scotland
(Fri 14 Oct, Sat 15 Oct, Sat 22 Oct, Thu 27 Oct & Sat 29 Oct: Various Times)
Join storyteller Jan Bee Brown and musician Renzo Spiteri as they reinterpret 200 years of Shetland’s former whaling industry through story, percussion and song. Touring to five site-specific community venues in Shetland to gather and share local stories, they will trace the transition of a once booming business to today’s ecotourism, by sharing the stories and songs of the women and men that have shaped Shetland’s whaling tales.
Events in Bigton, North Roe and Yell also include story & music making community workshops, in collaboration with Curious Pilgrims. Come along for some soup after the workshops and refreshments after the performances.

Interpreting Scotland is a series of new work commissioned for this year's Scottish International Storytelling Festival, exploring how Scotland shapes its sense of self in this period of change. Creatives within and beyond the storytelling community challenge and shape stories that matter for Scotland - past, present and future.

In Scotland’s Year of Stories, the Scottish International Storytelling Festival: Keep It Lit invites everyone to the ceilidh; locally, nationally and globally. At the core of Scotland’s culture and identity is the hospitable hearth - a place of solidarity and welcome for friend and stranger alike. Round that symbolic fire, experiences and memories are shared and hope affirmed.
This event will be held at various venues throughout Shetland. Booking and full programme information: www.curiouspilgrims.com
